New Year Vibes

As we step into the new year, many of us are reflecting on the ambitions we want to pursue. With winter settling in across the northern hemisphere, we find ourselves spending more time indoors—perfect for plotting, planning, and considering what we aim to achieve in the year ahead. For some, this means writing our first book or working toward reaching a wider audience with the books we’ve created. My passion for publishing and helping others has inspired me to share my expertise.

The Real Work of Making a Book

Navigating the world of publishing can be a challenging journey. That’s why, in 2025, I’m setting a personal goal to share my expertise and provide more coaching to those who are looking to dive into the publishing world. If you or someone you know could benefit from book coaching, I'd love to connect.

To kick this off, I’ve shared my favorite book development methodology on social media—4 Questions to Ask & Answer— this is the approach I use with my clients. The 4 Questions allow us to develop a deep understanding of the author’s goals and the book’s context  — both are critical to the success of a book! If you don’t already, I encourage you to follow me on LinkedIn and Instagram, where I’m sharing tips and insights. To learn more about how to work with me feel free to check out the coaching page on the Studiolo Secondari site.

A Family Affair: Bringing “Coins in the Fountain” Back to Life

From the 1954 film adaptation Three coins in the Fountain

On a personal note, I'm knee-deep in a project that's incredibly close to my heart – reissuing my dad's book, "Coins in the Fountain." It has been out of print my entire life and it is a thrill to be reissuing it! I can't wait to share more about this adventure with you all.

LA Fires

I spent some formative years in my early adulthood living in the Hollywood neighborhood of Los Angeles when I attended Otis Parsons School of Design. Although my heart called me back to NYC, I have a great fondness for the city of the Angels and some of my favorite people call it home. Like you, my heart is breaking at the destruction I see. I’ve contributed to Chef José Andrés’ amazing charity, World Central Kitchen’s dedicated Southern California donation page. I am looking for other organizations to help, so please lmk if you can recommend any.

Book Club Anyone?

Finally, I’m excited to share that my team and I have set up our Books We Love club on Bookshop.org! This is a space where we can share the books we love and celebrate the stories that inspire us. This year we are starting with “Big Magic” by Elizabeth Gilbert. We’d love for you to join us in exploring new books and supporting independent bookstores.

In conclusion, as  I dive deeper into coaching and breathe new life into "Coins in the Fountain," I'd be over the moon if you could spread the word. Know someone who's wrestling with their manuscript or could use a publishing pep talk? Send them my way! And keep an ear out for more news about my dad's book – it's going to be quite the journey.

Here's to a year filled with words, wonder, and wild success in all your publishing endeavors!

By combining design thinking with process experience, Studiolo Secondari evaluates your ways of working, assesses how your audience feels about your brand or your website, and oversees those big design projects that you don’t have the capacity or ability to manage. And if you’re looking to drive storytelling and showcase your message to the world, we also provide full-service book design and production — from editorial and design to composition and manufacturing.

Linda Secondari

I’ve spent more years than I care to mention honing my skills at preeminent academic publishers. As the Creative Director for both Oxford University Press and Columbia University Press, and Art Director for Russek Advertising (where clients included Shakespeare in the Park and John Leguizamo), I felt the call to take what I’d learned and what I’d done and start my own design studio (or studiolo).

Using intelligent design strategy and inspiring design solutions, I believe we can improve the world through better communication. I’ve been fortunate to do that for independent authors, major publishers, NGOs, educational institutions, nonprofits and think tanks. And while the industries might be varied, the one unifier is a desire to reach their audience and get their big ideas noticed.

Whether I’m cooking up a batch of puttanesca or helping an organization rethink their look, message and go-to-market strategy, I always strive to create an end result that wows.

My clients often remark how I interpret what they need from what they say and that I’m the calm voice of reason in their often frenetic industry. (must be all that meditating.)

If you have a project that could use some transformation, let’s turn the page together.
